PRO-5 Mobilizes Over 4,800 Police Officers for Independence Day in Bicol

Bicol: The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) is set to deploy 4,814 police personnel, alongside support units and force multipliers from partner agencies, to ensure a safe and orderly observance of the 128th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence on June 12, as announced by the agency on Thursday. PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda emphasized that comprehensive measures are in place to maintain peace and security while upholding fundamental rights to peaceful assembly and free expression.

According to Philippines News Agency, forces will be stationed in strategic public areas and event sites to enhance police visibility, manage traffic, secure perimeters, conduct checkpoint operations, and facilitate rapid response. Civil disturbance management units and standby reactionary forces will be on alert for immediate action if necessary.

All other police operations will continue uninterrupted, including anti-criminality patrols, intelligence monitoring, cyber threat surveillance, and focused operations against wanted individuals. There will be increased patrols in transport terminals, convergence areas, and critical infrastructures to ensure heightened security.

"As we celebrate this momentous occasion, PRO-5 stands resolute in its duty to safeguard every citizen and ensure that all Independence Day activities are conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner. Our personnel are fully prepared, highly alert, and committed to delivering a security environment where the public can freely and safely participate in this historic celebration," Miranda stated.

He further noted that the success of the observance hinges not only on security preparedness but also on shared community responsibility.
