Manila: The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Tuesday said it is conducting “rapid damage assessment and needs analysis” (RDANA) to determine the extent of destruction caused by Super Typhoon Nando, which barreled through Northern Luzon on Monday.
According to Philippines News Agency, OCD spokesperson Junie Castillo reported on PTV-4’s “Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon” that the assessment and submission of reports are currently underway as the weather has improved. Initial assessments indicate that approximately 44,000 families, or 159,000 individuals, primarily from the Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa regions, have been affected by the typhoon.
The initial damage reports have identified 10 houses as “totally damaged” and another 18 as “partially damaged,” though these figures are anticipated to rise as additional information becomes available. Castillo noted the significant impact of the powerful winds and heavy rains brought by Super Typhoon Nando.
The typhoon exited the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday.
