Libjo: The local government of Libjo in Dinagat Islands has announced the temporary closure of the Miracle Pool Cave in Barangay Plaridel, citing conservation and site management needs. The closure is set to begin on Friday and will remain in effect until further notice as communicated by the Libjo tourism office.
According to Philippines News Agency, the decision aims to conserve the site and facilitate necessary maintenance and management procedures. Janine Ferolino, the tourism operations officer, emphasized in an interview that this pause will also enable the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to conduct inspections of the area to determine which existing structures need to be dismantled or retained.
Ferolino urged both domestic and foreign visitors to consider alternative destinations within Libjo, suggesting that inquiries could be directed to their office for other popular sites. With the summer vacation and Holy Week on the horizon, increased visits to the Miracle Pool Cave were anticipated starting the first week of April.
Local tourism personnel will be stationed at the cave entrance to assist visitors and guide them to other attractions. Ferolino highlighted that Libjo offers pristine beaches that are highly recommended during the vacation season. She expressed gratitude for the understanding and cooperation of visitors, noting that this initiative aims to preserve the Miracle Pool Cave as a natural attraction for future generations.
