Cagayan de oro: The city government here will deploy 1,800 police, military, and emergency personnel for the Feast of the Black Nazarene "Traslacion" starting Thursday evening to Friday morning. Cagayan de Oro City Police spokesperson Capt. Emelita Simon stated that the multisectoral force will secure main streets for the religious event, which coincides with Misamis Oriental's Kuyamis Festival on Jan. 9.

According to Philippines News Agency, as early as 2 PM, personnel will be briefed on the situation and scenarios, and by 6 PM, they will be officially manning their areas, Simon said in a press briefing Thursday. The local government has suspended work and classes for the feast day. The archdiocese coordinated with officials on the procession route, and the Philippine Army's Task Force Oro will complement the police.

Authorities expect more than 20,000 devotees for this year's observance.
