Manila: Police are investigating the killing of two security guards at the Bureau of Internal Revenue office in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay early Tuesday. Maj. Pocholo Rolando Guerrero, acting Ipil police chief, identified the victims as Jamie Dante, 52, and Arkhads Muharral, 41.
According to Philippines News Agency, Dante sustained five gunshot wounds and Muharral suffered four, including a gunshot to the head. The bodies were discovered at the receiving area of the office by a utility worker who reported for work around 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
Police are checking if any documents were missing after noticing opened drawers and cabinets at the scene. Authorities have not determined if the guards were armed, as no firearms were found at the scene. Empty shells from a 9 mm pistol were recovered, and further investigation is underway to determine the motive.
