Quezon: The police arrested three persons caught unloading petroleum products from a 10-wheel oil tanker truck without a plate number and transferring them into white plastic containers in Quezon province on Tuesday morning.
According to Philippines News Agency, the three suspects were apprehended while unloading methanol at around 2 a.m. Tuesday in Sitio Cinderella, Barangay Sta. Catalina Sur, Candelaria. Authorities seized seven pieces of white plastic containers containing gasoline, a white plastic container containing diesel, two motor pumps, and seven motor pump hoses, all valued at PHP90,000.
The three suspects will face charges for violating Presidential Decree 1865, also known as the Oil Pilferage Act, which penalizes actions considered harmful to the public interest and national security involving petroleum products.
“This should serve as a strong message to criminal elements that your PNP will not stop and will continue working hard to run after those who compromise peace and order and the rule of law,” PNP acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated.
