Jakarta: The Philippine National Police (PNP): has issued a reminder to the public, urging them to refrain from sharing their holiday travel plans on social media. The PNP emphasized that such posts can inadvertently inform criminals about homeowners' absences, thereby increasing the risk of break-ins and other crimes.
According to Philippines News Agency, acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated that the public should not give criminal elements opportunities to exploit. Nartatez highlighted that sharing vacation plans could serve as an open invitation for criminals who are looking for opportunities to strike. He stressed that while the PNP is committed to protecting citizens, public cooperation is essential to enhancing the effectiveness of peace and order strategies.
Nartatez mentioned that the PNP is collaborating with local government units, particularly at the barangay level, to safeguard communities against preventable crimes. He assured the public that police personnel across the country will maintain heightened alertness and conduct anti-crime operations to ensure a secure holiday season.
In alignment with holiday preparations, Malaca±ang has suspended work in all government offices on December 29 and January 2, 2026. Additionally, December 30 (Rizal Day), December 31 (New Year's Eve), and January 1, 2026 (New Year's Day) are designated as non-working holidays.
The PNP has also announced a significant increase in police deployment for the holiday season, with over 100,000 officers set to be stationed nationwide. This is a substantial rise from last year's deployment of 60,000 personnel, aimed at enhancing security measures during the festive period.
