PNP to Investigate Origins of Fake Presidential Medical Bulletin

Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) will conduct a thorough investigation to identify those responsible behind the fake medical bulletin of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The PNP's Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) has been tasked to mobilize a team that will investigate and coordinate with other agencies in holding responsible those behind the disinformation attempt.

According to Philippines News Agency, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated in a statement that the PNP-ACG has been directed to assist in the investigation aimed at identifying the perpetrators of this act. He described the creation and dissemination of the fake medical bulletin online as a "disrespectful, insensitive and gross violation of the law."

Nartatez acknowledged the political environment and the PNP's respect for freedom of expression but emphasized that the creation and spread of fake documents targeting individuals is both malicious and unlawful. He warned that this incident is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and urged responsible use of social media.

President Marcos was scheduled to attend the PNP Day 2026 at Camp Crame but was represented by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto instead. Recto assured the public of the President's good health following a period of observation due to diverticulitis. He explained that the President had lost weight due to a soft diet recommended by his doctors for a few days.

In an interview, Recto reported that President Marcos is managing a substantial workload involving paperwork that requires his attention. Recto conveyed the doctors' advice for the President to rest for a week, saying, "The President is okay... He has a lot of work, especially paperwork, things he has to read and sign. Doctors advised him to rest for a week."
