Bacolod city: The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to recruit 279 police officers for the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) this year, with the recruitment process scheduled to commence this month. Patrolman and patrolwoman aspirants can apply for 111 slots under the regular quota and 168 slots allocated for the attrition quota.
According to Philippines News Agency, Col. Jacob Crisostomo, chief of the Regional Recruitment and Selection Unit (RSSU)-NIR, announced that the 2026 quota is lower compared to the 420 slots available in 2025. "Recruitment starts early this year. Next week, we will start the information drive as the quota has already been approved. We will start in March, and the tentative schedule of oath-taking is between July and the first week of August," Crisostomo stated during the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) 'Kadampig Mo' radio program.
A patrolman or patrolwoman in the PNP receives a monthly base pay of PHP31,151. The RSSU is responsible for implementing the policies and guidelines governing the PNP recruitment and selection processes in a particular region. "Our primary purpose is to make the recruitment process transparent so we can hire competent, morally upright members of the PNP," Crisostomo added.
For those interested in joining the PRO-NIR, application folders must be submitted to the RSSU office at the BCPO compound in Bacolod City.
