Quezon city: The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday vowed to strengthen its cooperation with the Israeli government to improve intelligence sharing, modernize police training programs, and adopt best practices in public safety and community policing. This initiative follows a meeting between acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. and Israeli Ambassador to the Philippines, Dana Kursh, held during a courtesy call at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Tuesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the meeting underscored the long-standing friendship between the Philippines and Israel and explored avenues for expanding cooperation in security, capacity building, and information sharing. Lt. Gen. Nartatez emphasized the importance of international cooperation in providing access to advanced technologies, training, and operational strategies to bolster the PNP’s capabilities in crime prevention, emergency response, and community safety.
Both parties discussed practical initiatives such as intelligence sharing, personnel exchanges, and joint training programs. These collaborative efforts aim to enhance the PNP’s ability to prevent crime, respond to emergencies, and ensure community safety. Nartatez highlighted that the ultimate goal is to create safer communities and improve response times to public safety concerns, aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to modernize the PNP and promote international partnerships that address evolving security challenges while safeguarding the well-being of every Filipino.
Nartatez also remarked that the engagement with Israel serves as a model for expanding collaboration with other allied nations, as he seeks to further strengthen the PNP’s operational efficiency, professional development, and community-focused programs.
