PNP Mobilizes Teams for Basyang Response

Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) has begun mobilizing personnel and resources to ensure public safety in areas expected to be affected by Tropical Storm Basyang. PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated that police units are on alert for preemptive evacuations and post-disaster response, with maximum personnel deployment in high-risk areas.

According to Philippines News Agency, PNP is coordinating closely with local government units and other agencies to ensure a unified response. Personnel have also been ordered to prepare search and rescue assets and other resources for cyclone-related operations. Gen. Nartatez emphasized the need for all necessary equipment and personnel to be prepared for quick and efficient response to safeguard communities.

He urged the public to follow local advisories and closely monitor the storm's development. As of Thursday afternoon, parts of the Visayas and Mindanao are under tropical cyclone wind signals. State weather forecasters reported that Basyang is expected to make landfall over eastern Mindanao between Thursday evening and early Friday, cross northern Palawan by Saturday, and re-emerge over the West Philippine Sea.
