Manila: The Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) arrested 153 individuals for various cyber-related violations in May as part of its intensified efforts to strengthen public safety in the digital space.
According to Philippines News Agency, PNP-ACG chief Maj. Gen. Wilson Asueta reported that the arrests included 45 suspects apprehended through entrapment operations and 63 who were arrested via Warrants to Search, Seize, and Examine Computer Data. Additionally, 17 individuals were convicted of cyber-related offenses during the same period.
Asueta also highlighted the successful implementation of 140 Warrants to Disclose Computer Data in support of ongoing cybercrime investigations. The unit referred 145 cases for filing, which included 105 regular filings and 40 inquest proceedings.
Operationally, PNP-ACG units conducted 2,124 cyber patrolling activities and completed 66 digital forensic examinations. Among their efforts, they rescued seven victims of various cybercrimes, underscoring their commitment to public protection.
"Our Cybercops remain relentless in pursuing cybercriminals and strengthening our operational efforts to ensure a safer and more secure cyberspace for all," Asueta stated, reaffirming the group's dedication to combating cyber-enabled crimes.
