PNP Focused on Bringing Atong Ang to Justice

Manila: The Philippine National Police (PNP) is committed to bringing Atong Ang to justice, as it lauded the Cambodian government for verifying the movements of the fugitive businessman. 'While his vast resources continue to pose a challenge in pursuing him, the PNP is focused and committed to bring him to justice,' PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement on Sunday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Nartatez said police is continuously working with other government agencies in verifying information received daily as to Ang's possible hiding place. 'We in the PNP fully appreciate the cooperation and assistance of the government of Cambodia. This only proves the strong alliance between the two countries in law enforcement operations and in the pursuit of justice,' Nartatez said.

He said coordination with other countries was strengthened to contain Ang's movement and eventually lead to his arrest. Arrest warrants for Ang and several others stemmed from charges of kidnapping with homicide, as well as kidnapping and serious illegal detention in connection with the investigation into the missing sabungeros (cockfighting enthusiasts).

A PHP10-million reward is offered for any information that could lead to Ang's capture.
