The philippine national police: The Philippine National Police (PNP) expressed full support for a proposed legislation that seeks to establish a sustained and coordinated approach to protecting learners from security threats and emergencies inside school campuses.

According to Philippines News Agency, PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. stated that Senate Bill 2426, known as the Comprehensive School Safety Act, introduced by Senator Bam Aquino, aims to create a nationwide system for school safety. The bill underscores the police's preparedness to bolster campus protection measures across the country.

Gen. Nartatez emphasized, 'We support measures that strengthen the protection of our learners. The PNP is ready to work closely with DepEd (Department of Education) and other stakeholders to ensure that schools remain safe and secure environments.' He further noted that this initiative aligns with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla to enhance student protection and ensure police units are equipped to prevent and respond to school threats.

The proposed legislation aims to institutionalize and secure sustained funding for school safety programs, focusing on prevention, response, and recovery measures. These measures include risk assessments, safety training, emergency procedures, active safety drills, and psychosocial and mental health support for affected students, families, and school personnel.

Gen. Nartatez added, 'School safety must be preventive, responsive, and supportive. We will continue strengthening police visibility, threat assessment, emergency preparedness, and coordination with school authorities.' The measure also supports DepEd's efforts, in collaboration with the PNP, such as the School Safety Campaign, stricter campus inspections, visitor management, and increased police patrols.
