Manila: The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) has successfully apprehended 52 individuals for violations related to cybercrime during their operations from May 1 to May 15.
According to Philippines News Agency, PNP-ACG chief Maj. Gen. Wilson Asueta revealed that out of the total arrests, 23 suspects were detained through entrapment operations. Additionally, 28 were identified as wanted persons, and one individual was caught during a rescue operation. In the same period, 10 individuals were convicted for their involvement in cyber-related offenses.
Maj. Gen. Asueta also highlighted the group's efforts in supporting cybercrime investigations. The PNP-ACG executed 72 Warrants to Disclose Computer Data (WDCD) and referred 89 cases for filing, comprising 67 regular filings and 22 inquest proceedings. These actions underscore the group's commitment to tackling cybercrime comprehensively.
The ACG units were also active in conducting cyber patrolling activities, with a total of 587 operations completed. They carried out 18 digital forensic examinations and successfully rescued 10 victims from various cybercrimes. Maj. Gen. Asueta affirmed the group's dedication, stating, "Our Cybercops remain relentless in pursuing cybercriminals and strengthening our operational efforts to ensure a safer and more secure cyberspace for all."
