Manila: The Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) has formed a team to investigate the fake medical bulletin of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. that was circulated online.

According to Philippines News Agency, PNP-ACG chief Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta announced that the team will coordinate with other agencies to pursue those responsible for the disinformation attempt. During a press briefing, Asueta stated, "Mayroon kaming binuo na (We formed a) team for that purpose. I already assigned them to collaborate and cooperate with other agencies responsible for this investigation."

When questioned about the identification of individuals behind the fake medical results, Asueta declined to provide details, citing the ongoing investigation. Both the Presidential Communications Office and St. Luke's Medical Center, whose logo appeared on the falsified bulletin, confirmed the document's inauthenticity.

Asueta further mentioned that those involved in the creation and distribution of the fake document could face charges under Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code, which penalizes the publication of false news that endangers public order.
