Tokoname: Kenneth Llover is set for the biggest fight of his young yet impressive career when he battles American opponent Michael Angeletti at Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Japan on June 6. The 12-round showdown is of huge importance as the International Boxing Federation (IBF) has set it as a title eliminator.
According to Philippines News Agency, both boxers will enter the ring with perfect records and minor title belts. Llover, the pride of General Trias City, Cavite, boasts a 17-0 record with 12 knockouts. The winner of the showdown between Llover, ranked third by the IBF in the 118-pound division, and Angeletti, ranked fifth, will earn a chance to fight Mexican star Jose Salas for the world title in a future bout.
Llover is not new to fighting in Tokoname, as he previously knocked out hometown favorite Ayati Sailike to defend his Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation bantamweight title on December 27, 2025. On the other hand, Angeletti, hailing from New Orleans, holds a 14-0 record with eight knockouts. The upcoming match will mark Angeletti's first bout against a Filipino and his first fight outside the United States.
Currently training in Tagaytay, Llover and his team traveled to Para±aque on Thursday to showcase his preparations to the media. "Talagang bibigyan ko ng isang magandang laban si (I will really give a good fight to) Michael Angeletti," Llover stated during his media conference. Boxing legend Gerry Pe±alosa manages Llover's career.
