PHLPost to Unveil Commemorative Stamps Honoring Young Revolutionary Icons

Manila: The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) is set to launch a new set of commemorative stamps celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of revolutionary figures Gregoria 'Oriang' de Jesus and Emilio 'Pingkian' Jacinto. The unveiling ceremony is scheduled to occur at the Activity Area of Robinsons Place Ermita, Manila, on June 12, 2026, coinciding with the 128th anniversary of Philippine independence.

According to Philippines News Agency, the stamps, designed by in-house layout artist Jose Antonio Jayme, feature the portraits of these prominent Katipunan figures, who played key roles in the struggle for national freedom. Despite their young age, both de Jesus and Jacinto made significant contributions to the revolution.

In a statement, Postmaster General Maximo Sta. Maria III expressed that the launch is intended to introduce the rich history of these young revolutionaries to the modern generation. He emphasized that age should not be seen as a barrier to serving one's country. Sta. Maria stated, "In a time when many young people are looking for inspiration and role models, it is important that we introduce the youth heroes who helped shape our nation."

The launch of these commemorative stamps serves as a reminder of how stamps can act as miniature pieces of history, preserving vital aspects of Filipino culture and heritage for future generations. The stamps will be available to the public, philatelists, and history enthusiasts at the Robinsons Place Ermita Activity Area and the Post Shop of the Manila Central Post Office immediately following the launch.
