Manila: The Philippine government is ready to assist Filipinos affected by the catastrophic flooding that swept through villages and trekking routes in Nepal, Malaca±ang said Friday. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro announced that the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi and the Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Kathmandu are coordinating with Nepalese authorities to facilitate assistance to affected Filipinos.

According to Philippines News Agency, Castro emphasized that the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi and the Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Kathmandu are in active coordination with local authorities and stand ready to extend assistance to Filipinos impacted by the disaster. This coordination aims to ensure that necessary support is provided efficiently.

Castro also highlighted that the government is verifying reports of a Filipino national missing after the floods. "They are awaiting confirmation from Nepali authorities on a Filipino national who is reported missing," she said.

The Nepal Tourism Board reported that a Filipino was among more than 500 foreign nationals missing following the deadly flash floods. This information was based on preliminary reports from various trekking and travel companies in Nepal.

As of Friday, the death toll from the flash floods had risen to 469, according to Nepal police.
