The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is extending the reach of its Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) by collaborating with more service providers, particularly privately owned clinics in Misamis Occidental.
According to Philippines News Agency, PhilHealth Northern Mindanao vice president Delio Aseron II attended the launch of a new YAKAP-partner clinic at Misamis University (MU) in Ozamiz City. The campus clinic, with YAKAP accreditation, will provide free primary care services not only to students, teachers, and university personnel but also to community stakeholders.
Aseron highlighted that there are currently 39 clinics participating in the program, with 14 privately owned and 25 affiliated with government facilities. Gerion Cabang, officer-in-charge of PhilHealth's Local Health Insurance Office in Ozamiz City, noted that all health centers across the province's 14 municipalities and three cities have been accredited und er YAKAP.
The accredited clinics and facilities offer free consultations, laboratory tests, and an annual medicine allowance of up to PHP20,000 for all members. MU president Dr. Karen Belina De Leon expressed that the university is committed to enhancing healthcare access for its students, faculty, and staff by affirming their dedication to well-being.
