PH Suffers Defeat Against Chinese Taipei in WBSC World Cup

Tainan: The Philippines bowed to host Chinese Taipei, 2-8, Thursday in the group stage of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women's Baseball World Cup in Tainan. The loss gave the Filipina batters a 2-2 win-loss record in the Group B standings.

According to Philippines News Agency, after losing to Japan, 0-3, last Tuesday, the Philippines won over Cuba (6-0) and Great Britain (6-2) the following day. The Philippines will next face Venezuela, which is tied for second place with Chinese Taipei at 2-1.

Meanwhile, defending champion Japan clobbered Cuba, 13-0, maintaining their lead with a 4-0 slate. Cuba managed to secure its first victory with a 7-4 win over Great Britain, which absorbed its fourth straight loss.

The top three teams from the Tainan Group will advance to the Finals next year in Rockford, Illinois, alongside the United States, Australia, and Canada.
