The Philippines, renowned for its extensive mineral reserves, is poised to enhance business collaborations with international investors and industry leaders, as conveyed by its ambassador to Canada during a high-level mining convention.
According to Philippines News Agency, Philippine Ambassador Jose Victor Chan-Gonzaga made a strategic presentation at the Philippines' inaugural country space launch at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention scheduled for March 1, 2026. This convention, regarded as the leading global event for mineral exploration and mining, attracts key industry players from around the world.
Chan-Gonzaga emphasized that the Philippines' participation, marked by a dedicated country space, signifies the nation's eagerness to collaborate with international partners as a dependable source of minerals crucial for the energy transition. He highlighted the event as a testament to the growing economic p artnership between the Philippines and Canada, particularly as negotiations for a bilateral Free Trade Agreement are underway.
The Philippine delegation aims to engage stakeholders at PDAC to explore prospects in exploration, investment, and sustainable mining practices. Joining Chan-Gonzaga are Department of Trade and Industry Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo, Philippine Consul General in Toronto Kristine Leilani Salle, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Assistant Secretary Michael Cabalda, and representatives from the Philippine Nickel Industry Association along with other mining companies.
The delegation invites interested parties to learn more about the Philippines' reserves of nickel, copper, gold, and other essential minerals. Potential partners are encouraged to visit the Philippine country space at the Metro Toronto Convention Center, Trade Show North, Booth 7108N, open until noon on March 4, Toronto time.
