Subic: The Philippine Navy (PN) and the Royal Danish Embassy in Manila have launched a "commemorative logo" marking 80 years of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Denmark. The launch event took place aboard the PN's guided-missile frigate BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG-6) at the Naval Operating Base-Subic, Zambales.
According to Philippines News Agency, the event, held on Tuesday, was attended by Danish Ambassador to the Philippines Franz-Michael Mellbin along with other Philippine government officials. Capt. Marie Angelica Sisican, Navy public affairs office chief, highlighted that PN Naval Systems Command chief Rear Admiral Juario Marayag represented Navy chief, Vice Admiral Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta during the launch.
Ezpeleta's message, delivered by Marayag, underscored the enduring relationship between the two nations. He stated, "For eight decades, the Philippines and Denmark have nurtured ties that reflect the strength of diplomacy and the value of sustained partnership. While geography may place our nations far apart, our shared identity as maritime states brings us together in a very meaningful way."
Established in 1946, the partnership between the Philippines and Denmark has evolved from foundational diplomatic recognition into a modern alliance. This relationship is characterized by shared priorities in maritime competitiveness, a mutual commitment to the green transition, and adherence to a rules-based international order.
Ezpeleta further emphasized the significance of the commemorative logo, saying, "The commemorative logo that we launch today, therefore, carries a meaning far deeper than its visual design. It stands as a symbol of friendship. It represents continuity in our diplomatic relations. More importantly, it reflects our shared aspiration to further strengthen ties and pursue meaningful engagement in the years ahead."
The Philippine Navy views this launch as a step toward its vision of becoming a modern, multi-domain, and self-reliant naval force.
