PH Condoles with Qatar After Deadly Ras Laffan Gas Explosion

Doha: The Philippine Embassy in Doha on Tuesday conveyed its sympathies to Qatar following the deadly explosion at a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility at its massive Ras Laffan industrial complex that killed 13 people and injured several others on June 21.

According to Philippines News Agency, Qatari authorities, in the initial report, said the incident was due to a 'technical malfunction,' and ruled out any hostile action. The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the State of Qatar expressed its condolences and sympathies to those affected by this tragic incident, which claimed the lives of 13 individuals and left others injured. The embassy's statement highlighted their thoughts are with the families grieving the untimely loss of their loved ones and wished a swift and full recovery to those injured.

Based on latest reports, the explosion wounded 66 and resulted in the death of 13. In a text message to reporters on Tuesday, Foreign Affairs spokesperson Analyn Ratonel confirmed that no Filipino was hurt in the incident.
