Peru Hit by Magnitude 6.1 Quake

Chimbote: A magnitude-6.1 earthquake hit off the northern coast of Peru at a depth of 100 kilometers on Saturday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the China Earthquake Networks Center provided the initial measurement and location of the quake. Meanwhile, the Geophysical Institute of Peru recorded the earthquake at magnitude 6.0, noting that it struck near the city of Chimbote in the Ancash region at 9:51 p.m. local time.

There have been no reports of casualties or property damage so far.
