Manila: University of Perpetual Help secured its first victory in the NCAA Season 102 men's basketball after beating Emilio Aguinaldo College, 83-72, Thursday at the FiLOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
According to Philippines News Agency, Angelo Gelsano finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, and two assists as the Altas bounced back from their 77-84 loss to the Letran Knights last Sunday. Leobert Casinillo added 16 points while Mark Gojo Cruz and Juan Tulabot scored 15 points each. Rey Maglupay chipped in 11 points, including a triple that capped a 9-0 run to give Perpetual a 71-61 lead with six minutes left.
EJ Castillo led EAC with 19 points, five rebounds, and two assists, followed by Harvey Raymundo with 17 points and two steals and Jude Bagay with 11 points and four rebounds.
"We are preparing for all the games we'll be playing to be really close contests," said Gojo Cruz, who also had six assists and four rebounds. "We're grateful that we were able to execute in crunch time what we worked on during practice. We're thankful for the win, but we hope to keep this going since the season is still long," he added.
