Trece martires city: Reaffirming the government's commitment to ensuring that confiscated illegal drugs never find their way back into communities, authorities on Thursday destroyed around PHP12.34 billion worth of dangerous drugs, controlled precursors, and essential chemicals at a waste management facility in Trece Martires City, Cavite, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
According to Philippines News Agency, this marks the largest volume of dangerous drugs destroyed by the agency to date, with a total of 2,224,679.9705 grams of solid substances, together with 106,386.0500 milliliters of liquid dangerous drugs.
Destroyed through thermal decomposition were 1,774,023 grams of shabu, 433,336 grams of marijuana, 2,208 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of MMDA or methylenedioxymethamphetamine (commonly known as ecstasy), grams of MDMA+Meth, 51 grams of Diazepam, 2.70 grams of Ketamine, 22 grams of Nitrazepam, 4.2 grams of Psilocybin, 1,797 milliliters of liquid marijuana, 104,589 milliliters of liquid methamphetamine hydrochloride, and 15,000 grams of assorted expired medicines.
'These drugs were taken off the streets through the hard work of our law enforcement personnel and other law enforcement agencies. Their incineration ensures that these substances can no longer return to the illegal drug market or pose a threat to our communities,' PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani R. Nerez said.
He stated this represents the culmination of law enforcement efforts that led to the confiscation and eventual permanent disposal of these dangerous drugs.
'More than two tons of dangerous drugs have now been permanently removed from the illegal drug trade. Behind this figure are continuous efforts by our personnel and partners to intercept illegal drugs before they reach our communities. We remain committed to sustaining these efforts and disrupting the illegal drug trade at every point in the supply chain,' Nerez added.
PDEA recognizes the continued cooperation of its partner law enforcement agencies, government institutions, local government units, and other stakeholders whose collective efforts contributed to the successful interdiction and disposition of dangerous drugs.
