Trece martires city: Authorities on Tuesday destroyed around PHP4.56 billion worth of dangerous drugs and controlled precursors and essential chemicals (CPECs) at a waste management facility in Trece Martires City, Cavite. The operation was led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), which reported that the haul included 1,136.5521 kilograms of solid illegal drugs and 657.1300 milliliters of liquid substances. These narcotics were disposed of through thermal decomposition, or thermolysis.
According to Philippines News Agency, the destroyed substances comprised 555.2393 kg of shabu, 442.9399 kg of marijuana, 1.6651 kg of ecstasy, 117.3860 kg of cocaine, 15.8149 kg of ephedrine, and 0.5070 kg of ketamine. Additionally, over 43,000 grams of marijuana (kush) and more than 102,000 grams of cocaine recovered along the shorelines of coastal areas in Palawan between late 2025 and early 2026 were incinerated.
PDEA stated that the drugs were seized in various anti-drug operations or turned over following court orders for destruction after the successful prosecution and resolution of the cases where they were presented as evidence. Under strict security protocols, the confiscated drugs were placed inside a high-capacity incinerator and are expected to be completely destroyed beyond recovery within 24 hours.
The destruction was witnessed by Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor "Jonvic" Remulla, Dangerous Drugs Board Chairperson Oscar Valenzuela, and representatives from other law enforcement agencies. Remulla emphasized that this operation serves as a message that the government is adhering to legal processes, ensuring that intercepted drugs are prosecuted, and destroyed when ordered.
Remulla clarified that there is no "war on drugs" in the Marcos administration but rather a coordinated "campaign" focusing on legal procedures and inter-agency collaboration. He stated, "This is a campaign against illegal drugs," highlighting the government's commitment to a systematic approach.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani Nerez affirmed the agency's dedication to not only seizing illegal drugs but also ensuring their permanent destruction once they are off the streets. He noted that the quarterly destruction of seized drugs is conducted in full public view to prevent any risk of recycling and to maintain public trust.
