Maguindanao del norte: About PHP87 million worth of seized illegal drugs were destroyed using an incinerator of a thermal plant in Maguindanao del Norte, officials reported Tuesday. The incineration was conducted on Monday afternoon at the thermal plant of Lamsan Trading, a cassava-making plant in Sultan Kudarat town, Director Gil Cesario Castro of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) said in a statement.

According to Philippines News Agency, aside from shabu, also destroyed were cocaine and dried marijuana leaves. BARMM Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua witnessed the destruction of prohibited drugs and lauded PDEA for the successful operation against prohibited items across the region. Macacua assured of his all-out support against illegal drugs, emphasizing the need to protect the future generation.

He noted that burning the drugs symbolizes BARMM’s strong dedication to creating a drug-free region. Representatives from the judiciary and the local government units of Sultan Kudarat town and Maguindanao del Norte province also witnessed the destruction.
