PCSO Chorale Triumphs at Korea International Choir Competition

Manila: The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Chorale bested 47 choirs to win the Grand Prix at the Korea International Choir Competition (KICC) in South Korea. The event, held at Incheon National University from February 26 to March 2, featured contests, performances, workshops, masterclasses, and a K-pop concert.

According to Philippines News Agency, PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles hailed the victory, stating it "reflects the extraordinary talent and dedication of the PCSO Chorale." Robles emphasized that the triumph brings pride to both the institution and the entire Filipino nation, showcasing the global competitiveness of Filipino artists through music.

Robles noted that the 2026 KICC marked the PCSO Chorale's first foray into international competition. He expressed commitment to supporting the group as they advance, highlighting their dedication and hard work as a source of inspiration.

Competing against choirs from various countries including Indonesia, South Korea, Russia, Taiwan, Malaysia, the United States, and Poland, the PCSO Chorale impressed the 14-member international judging panel with renditions of "Puer Natus in Bethlehem" and "Te Lucis Ante Terminum." The group also secured gold medals in the Sacred Music and Mixed categories.

As the Grand Prix winner, the chorale will advance to the Asia Choral Grand Prix, where top choirs from major regional competitions will compete. Led by conductor Robert Delgado and choirmaster Tristan Ignacio, the PCSO Chorale was revitalized in September 2023 under the leadership of Robles and Delgado. Founded in 1998, the ensemble is composed of PCSO employees.
