PCG Continues Relief Ops to Quake-Hit Sarangani

Sarangani: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has continued the deployment of personnel and equipment to help transport and deliver humanitarian relief to earthquake-affected communities in Sarangani Province.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PCG stated that BRP Panglao was deployed by PCG District Southern Mindanao to transport and deliver the third batch of relief assistance on Wednesday. A PCG deployable response group (DRG) prepared 400 boxes of relief goods, 100 jerry cans of potable water, and 19 dispenser water jugs for transport aboard BRP Panglao. Afterwards, the ship proceeded to Glan, Sarangani, to deliver the emergency goods.

The PCG emphasized that this initiative is part of the iCARE (Intensified Community Assistance, Awareness, Response, and Enforcement) program, highlighting its commitment to delivering humanitarian assistance and disaster response to support communities in need during times of crisis.

Additionally, PCG personnel conducted an ocular inspection at the General Santos Shipyard in Maasim, Sarangani, as part of post-earthquake assessment operations. The team found significant damage to the shipyard's slipway facility with an estimated loss of PHP50 million.

On Tuesday, BRP Panglao delivered 157 modular tents, 200 family food packs, medical kits, and 48 containers of essential supplies at the Port of Glan. The PCG and other government agencies began emergency response on Monday, right after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Southeast Mindanao, which caused several buildings to collapse in General Santos City.
