PBBM to PNP: Deliver Visible, Trusted Service

Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday urged the Philippine National Police (PNP) to provide a 'visible, disciplined, and trusted' service, stressing that law enforcement must be under civilian authority. In a video message for the PNP Day, Marcos lauded the 228,000-strong police force for their efforts to deliver people-centered service and ensure public safety.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos emphasized the importance of peace and order as fundamental elements for growth and public confidence in the country. He called on every member of the PNP to focus on visible presence, disciplined conduct, and service that communities can trust, actions he believes will rebuild confidence and give meaning to the badge they wear.

Marcos acknowledged that since the PNP's inception on January 29, 1991, through Republic Act 6975, police work has become 'more demanding.' Many officers have risen to these challenges, demonstrating a commitment to service grounded in professionalism, integrity, and accountability. He highlighted that professionalism is built through daily decisions, and authority should be exercised with restraint and fairness.

The President vowed continued support to the PNP as it enhances operational capabilities and strengthens community partnerships. He stressed the public's expectation for effective policing, quick assistance, and respectful, competent law enforcement. Marcos committed to strengthening training to improve decision-making, investing in systems to shorten response times, and enforcing accountability mechanisms to protect both the public and honest police officers.

The PNP Day 2026 theme, 'Serbisyong Nararamdaman, Kapulisang Maaasahan,' underscores the police force's ongoing commitment to delivering genuine, people-centered police service.
