Pasay city: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has expressed his commitment to supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and enhancing skills training programs aimed at increasing employment opportunities for Filipinos.
According to Philippines News Agency, during the launch of the Trabaho at Negosyo program in Pasay City, Marcos emphasized the government's ongoing efforts to expand employment initiatives. These include job fairs and programs designed to help workers adjust to an evolving industry landscape, influenced by digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
Marcos highlighted the transformation of traditional jobs and the necessity of once-optional skills becoming essential. He acknowledged the challenges faced by entrepreneurs, particularly those starting small ventures like food carts and market stalls, due to limited capital and access to markets.
He expressed confidence in the adaptability of Filipinos, citing their resilience and resourcefulness. Marcos also stressed the importance of the private sector in addressing employment gaps through partnerships that promote entrepreneurship and skills development.
The President praised Go Negosyo founder Jose Ma. 'Joey' Concepcion III for his efforts in supporting MSME development and announced that his administration is expanding programs focused on reskilling, upskilling, and enterprise-based training.
Marcos stated that the government aims to equip Filipinos not only to survive but to thrive in a rapidly changing world. He noted the success of previous job fairs, where over 74,000 jobseekers found employment through more than 2,300 nationwide job fairs in 2025. In January 2026 alone, around 2,400 applicants were hired on the spot during 47 job fairs.
The administration is streamlining services for entrepreneurs via Negosyo Centers, offering mentorship, advisory services, and help in market expansion. Marcos encouraged the participants of the Trabaho at Negosyo program to leverage the learning sessions and opportunities available to enhance their skills and businesses.
The Trabaho at Negosyo initiative, organized by Go Negosyo, features learning sessions with industry experts on business development and includes a job fair linking jobseekers with employers from various sectors. Government agencies like the Department of Trade and Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and Bureau of Internal Revenue are offering one-stop services and pre-employment assistance.
