Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. extended the Philippines’ deepest condolences to the Royal Family and the people of Thailand following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Mother Sirikit.
According to Philippines News Agency, in a statement, Marcos expressed profound sorrow, describing the late Queen Mother as a symbol of kindness, grace, and compassion whose influence transcended borders. Marcos stated, “With heartfelt sadness, we mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand. Her kindness, grace, and warmth touched so many lives, including ours.”
He further emphasized the deep connection between Queen Sirikit and the Philippines, noting her close friendship with the country and her genuine spirit of compassion as a source of strength and inspiration. Marcos hoped that the Queen Mother’s legacy of love and service would continue to inspire future generations.
During this difficult time, the President extended thoughts and prayers to the Royal Family and the Thai people, expressing his desire for Her Majesty’s soul to find eternal peace and for her legacy of love to continue inspiring others.
Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother of Thailand, had suffered a stroke in 2012 and had not been seen in public since then. Thailand’s Royal Palace announced Her Majesty’s passing on Friday night at the age of 93.
The Queen Mother was widely admired for her humanitarian work and lifelong dedication to social welfare, education, and cultural preservation. She was the wife of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and mother of the current monarch, King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X). A one-year mourning period has been declared for members of the royal family and household.
