PBBM Extends Condolences to Venezuela Following Devastating Earthquakes

Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday expressed deep sorrow over the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela, extending the Philippines' condolences to the affected population. In a Facebook post, Marcos joined the international community in expressing concern for Venezuela as it deals with the impact of the earthquake.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos said he was deeply saddened by the destruction caused by the strong tremors and conveyed the Filipino people's sympathy to the Venezuelan people. 'On behalf of the Filipino people, I extend our heartfelt sympathies,' Marcos said.

Marcos assured Venezuela of the Philippines' support during the difficult period, as affected communities continue recovery efforts in the aftermath of the disaster. 'The Philippines stands in solidarity with the Venezuelan people during this difficult time and hopes for the safety and swift recovery of all communities affected,' he said.

A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Venezuela near the city of Moron, followed by a stronger magnitude 7.5 quake just a minute later on Wednesday. The powerful quake caused significant casualties and widespread damage, particularly in Caracas. At least 32 people have been reported dead, while over 700 individuals sustained injuries.
