Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is prioritizing essential presidential responsibilities while delegating other public engagements to Cabinet members who act as his 'alter egos,' as stated by Presidential Communications Office (PCO) acting Secretary Dave Gomez.
According to Philippines News Agency, Gomez revealed that President Marcos is currently recuperating from diverticulitis and is making steady progress in his recovery, based on his medical team's observations. Despite his health condition, the President remains focused on overseeing critical government operations, while certain public events are attended by Cabinet secretaries on his behalf.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto represented Marcos at the annual awarding ceremony for outstanding government workers at Malaca±an Palace in Manila, originally scheduled for the President. Recto explained that his delegation to the event was to ensure that presidential duties continue without compromising the President's health.
Recto further mentioned that President Marcos has been advised to rest, considering his current health condition, but assured the public that there is no reason for concern. The President remains active with daily private meetings and is expected to fully recover 'in the next few weeks.' Recto emphasized that Marcos continues to attend to his responsibilities by signing necessary documents during this period.
