PBBM Calls for Stronger Support for Refugees, Stateless Persons

Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday called for stronger support and greater collaboration to help refugees and stateless persons rebuild their lives with dignity and security. In his message for the 3rd National Refugee Day Forum organized by the Department of Justice-Refugees and Stateless Persons Protection Unit (DOJ-RSPPU), Marcos reaffirmed the Philippines' commitment to providing protection and assistance to people forced to flee conflict, violence, and persecution.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos emphasized that safeguarding the worth of every individual is a responsibility of a just society, reflecting the nation's foundational values of humanity and fairness. He commended the efforts of DOJ-RSPPU in creating pathways for refugees and stateless individuals to regain stability, highlighting the Filipino spirit of solidarity.

Marcos pointed out that the forum serves as a critical platform for government, development partners, and civil society organizations to enhance collaboration. This collaboration aims to expand access to education, livelihood opportunities, legal identity, and social support for those in need. He hoped that the discussions would lead to stronger partnerships and innovative solutions to improve the lives of displaced individuals.

The President further urged Filipinos to contribute to creating an inclusive society where refugees and stateless persons are welcomed and empowered to pursue a better future. He envisioned a 'Bagong Pilipinas' where justice, inclusivity, and respect for human life are central to national progress.

The 3rd National Refugee Day Forum serves as a convergence point for stakeholders across various sectors, focusing on promoting the protection and welfare of refugees and stateless persons in the country.
