PBBM Announces Toll-Free Use of New CAVITEX-C5 Link Segment 3B Until End of April

Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced the opening of a new segment of the CAVITEX-C5 Link, known as Segment 3B, and stated that it will remain toll-free for the entire month of April. This initiative aims to alleviate the burden on motorists during the busy Holy Week travel period.

According to Philippines News Agency, the newly opened Segment 3B is a two-kilometer expressway connecting Para±aque to Taguig. It is anticipated to significantly enhance mobility and facilitate smoother travel. The President emphasized that the toll-free period is intended to provide relief to Filipinos, especially during Holy Week when travel typically increases.

President Marcos highlighted that the project will reduce travel time to just 15 minutes, significantly easing congestion on surrounding roads. Previously, journeys along this route could take between one to one-and-a-half hours. The expressway is expected to accommodate approximately 36,000 vehicles daily.

The President also noted that this initiative aligns with the government's broader efforts to improve mobility and offer relief to the public amidst rising fuel costs, which are influenced by global developments. The project is part of the administration's 'UPLIFT' strategy, which incorporates infrastructure and transport interventions to address the challenges posed by ongoing energy issues related to the Middle East conflict.
