Pangasinan Town Aims to Become Key Agri Trade Hub for Benguet and Nueva Ecija

Rosales: The municipal government of Rosales in Pangasinan is setting its sights on becoming a pivotal agricultural trade hub for the provinces of Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, and Western Pangasinan. Mayor William Cezar revealed that discussions regarding the project commenced earlier this year with officials from some localities in Benguet and Nueva Vizcaya.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Cezar mentioned that the plan involves transporting vegetable products from Benguet and Nueva Vizcaya to Rosales, while fish from the western part of Pangasinan will also be brought to the town. This initiative will create a marketplace for these goods, benefiting the involved provinces and some localities in Pangasinan.

An integral part of this project is enhancing the road networks, particularly those leading to the Farmers' Market or Bagsakan, to facilitate efficient transport and exchange of agricultural products. Mayor Cezar emphasized the importance of supporting local farmers, noting that the economy of Rosales is equally driven by agriculture and industrial-commercial activities.

This initiative aligns with the national government's food security program, which Mayor Cezar supports, recognizing food security as a crucial issue for the Philippines. The strategic location of Rosales, bordering various towns and provinces, positions it as an ideal junction for this agricultural trade endeavor. Rosales covers a land area of 6,639 hectares and had a population of 66,711 people as per the 2020 census, making it a significant town in the sixth congressional district.
