Pangasinan: The head of the League of Municipalities in the Philippines (LMP) in Pangasinan has expressed full support for the implementation of the anti-epal policy. Manaoag Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario, LMP provincial president, said in an interview on Wednesday that it is proper and right to abide by the law. "I go with that, and it is the right thing to do because we are only here temporarily. This (position) is not ours to own," he said.
According to Philippines News Agency, Rosario emphasized that images of public officials should not appear on business permits, other government certifications, or government projects. Rosario noted that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has requested that the LMP cascade the reiteration of the anti-epal policy down to barangays, and that they will comply. "DILG has requested us to issue some sort of order in relation to this policy," he said.
He added that he is also fully supportive of the recent order on the proper use of government vehicles. "Government vehicles should be used only on official functions, on official business. This is not a new law; it should really be followed," he said.
Earlier, DILG Pangasinan local government operations officer Gerald Gallardo said they have required the province's local government units to submit an action plan to implement the anti-epal policy. He said the LGUs have been requested to create and organize a task force and assign focal persons for the purpose.
