Pangasinan: The provincial government of Pangasinan has started the test runs of its interactive fountain within the capitol grounds in Lingayen. The fountain, which features lights, music, and 'dancing waters', is scheduled to operate daily at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.
According to Philippines News Agency, Vice Governor Mark Ronald Lambino mentioned that the current schedule is part of the testing phase as they work on perfecting the system. The testing is necessary as adjustments are being made, particularly considering the wind in the area due to its proximity to the Lingayen Gulf. Lambino noted that recent tests with Governor Ramon Guico III highlighted the impact of wind, indicating the need for further fine-tuning.
Ongoing construction continues at the capitol plaza, including the development of the 11-story Pangasinan Government Center, a convention center, and flood mitigation projects. Lambino expressed hope that the road and drainage systems will be completed within the year.
Governor Guico previously highlighted that the new attraction would enhance tourism and trade in the province's capital town, while also providing a recreational space for residents. The reflecting pool and interactive fountain provide a clear view from the shore to the Provincial Capitol building, according to the Provincial Information and Media Relations Office.
The construction of the new government center, valued at approximately PHP2 billion, includes a 1,500-seat convention facility. The project, which began with its groundbreaking last year, aims for completion within the next three to four years. The center will offer pedestrian-friendly features, an intelligent traffic system, improved interconnectivity, open spaces, and a globally designed iconic structure. Governor Guico added that the historic provincial capitol building will continue to serve ceremonial and official functions.
