PAGASA Predicts Formation of LPA East of Mindanao Next Week

Manila: The weather bureau on Friday said a low pressure area (LPA) is forecast to form east of Mindanao near the boundary of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Monday. The LPA's trough will cause scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Northern Mindanao and Caraga, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

According to Philippines News Agency, the same weather conditions will prevail over Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Bicol, and the Visayas on the same day due to the shear line. PAGASA's weather outlook did not indicate whether the LPA would enter the PAR. The bureau, however, anticipates that the LPA's trough will affect parts of the country until Friday.

Mindanao and Eastern Visayas will experience cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms from Tuesday through Thursday. The LPA's trough will likewise dampen Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental by Friday. Meanwhile, the shear line, northeast monsoon or "amihan", and localized thunderstorms are also expected to bring rains over some parts of the country next week, PAGASA said.
