Pag-IBIG Housing Assets Surpass PHP1 Trillion Milestone as Financing Expands

Manila: Pag-IBIG Fund's gross housing-related assets reached PHP1.01 trillion as of July 31, 2026, as the state-run fund expanded financing for members buying, building, and improving homes and for institutions supporting housing development.

According to Philippines News Agency, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, who chairs the Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees, said the milestone reflects the fund's role in expanding homeownership and supporting the housing sector and broader economy. 'Reaching more than PHP1 trillion in housing-related assets is an important milestone. It means more financing is reaching Filipino homebuyers, while qualified developers and institutions receive greater support to provide housing,' Aliling stated in a news release.

Of the PHP1.01 trillion in gross housing-related assets, PHP971.39 billion, or 96 percent, consisted of housing-related loans, while PHP38.47 billion comprised other housing-related assets. Pag-IBIG Fund is mandated to invest at least 70 percent of its investible funds in housing. The policy allows members' pooled savings to finance homeownership and housing development while generating earnings for the fund.

Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene Acosta emphasized that the trillion-peso housing portfolio reflects the fund's mandate of putting members' savings to productive use. 'This is Pag-IBIG at work,' Acosta said. 'The savings of millions of Filipino workers are pooled together and put to productive use, much of it to help fellow members have homes of their own.'

From January to July, Pag-IBIG Fund released PHP88.84 billion in housing and wholesale loans, up 22.4 percent from PHP72.61 billion during the same period last year. The increase reflects continued demand for home financing and funding support for housing development, the fund noted.
