Davao region: The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) has distributed PHP7.28 million worth of humanitarian assistance to families affected by the shear line since Feb. 19, the agency said Monday.
According to Philippines News Agency, of the total assistance provided, PHP7.2 million was contributed by DSWD-11, while PHP79,400 came from local government units. The agency also highlighted that PHP3 million in standby funds are still available for additional response efforts.
Flooding incidents, triggered by continuous moderate to heavy rainfall, have impacted 85,606 families or 302,647 individuals across 191 barangays in the region. Currently, 283 families or 1,159 persons are taking refuge in eight evacuation centers, while 15,133 families or 60,621 individuals are temporarily sheltering with relatives or friends. In total, 15,416 families remain displaced due to the flooding.
DSWD-11 has prepositioned 137,251 family food packs valued at PHP96.4 million, along with non-food items worth PHP71.2 million and other non-food items worth PHP6.8 million in its warehouses to support the affected families.
The agency has recorded 23 damaged houses, with 15 being totally damaged and eight partially damaged. "Monitoring and assessment operations remain ongoing," DSWD-11 stated in a statement.
