Davao: The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) has distributed PHP15.2 million worth of humanitarian assistance to families affected by the shear line since Feb. 19, the agency said Wednesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, of the total aid, PHP13.8 million was sourced from DSWD-11, while PHP1.3 million was contributed by local government units. Additionally, PHP3 million in standby funds remain available for further response efforts.
The breakdown of aid by province shows Davao del Norte received PHP6.8 million from DSWD-11 and PHP1.2 million from its local government unit. Davao de Oro was allocated PHP6.03 million from DSWD-11 and PHP58,500 from its LGU. Meanwhile, Davao Oriental received PHP1.05 million from DSWD-11.
Flooding caused by continuous moderate to heavy rainfall affected 146,184 families, or 639,571 individuals, across 191 barangays in the region. Currently, seven families, comprising 67 persons, are taking temporary shelter with relatives and friends, while 68 families, or 259 persons, remain displaced.
DSWD-11 has prepared 134,945 family food packs valued at PHP88.1 million, non-food items worth PHP69.8 million, and other non-food items valued at PHP6.8 million, all prepositioned in its warehouses. The agency has recorded 54 damaged houses, with 26 totally damaged and 28 partially damaged. Monitoring and assessment operations are ongoing.
