Catanduanes: The Department of Health (DOH) has delivered PHP 1.7 million worth of health supplies to Catanduanes, one of the provinces hardest hit by Super Typhoon Uwan. The shipment, which includes hygiene and breastfeeding kits, water containers, purification tablets, and medicines, was received by the Catanduanes Provincial Health Office on November 13, coinciding with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s visit to the area.
According to Philippines News Agency, the items were aimed at addressing the immediate health needs identified through assessments by the DOH-Bicol Center for Health Development and the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Response Cluster. In addition to the supplies, the department is intensifying efforts to establish water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities. Teams have also been deployed to enhance public health facilities in various parts of Catanduanes.
Moreover, continuous monitoring of injuries, waterborne diseases, and other health-related incidents is being conducted. President Marcos inspected the areas devastated by Super Typhoon Uwan, which made landfall on November 9, leaving a trail of destruction across the island province. He has directed government agencies to persist in providing relief and assistance to the residents to aid in their recovery process.
