Bacolod: Anti-drug operatives of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized more than PHP2 million in shabu and arrested four individuals in two buy-bust operations conducted over the past two nights in the city.
According to Philippines News Agency, the first operation took place on Monday night along Vicente Yap St., Barangay Singcang-Airport, where police confiscated 250 grams of shabu valued at PHP1.7 million. The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) apprehended a 25-year-old man known as ‘Jameson,’ a resident of Zone 5, Barangay Vista Alegre, after he sold a sachet of shabu worth PHP1,000 to an undercover officer. His 15-year-old companion, referred to as ‘John,’ was also taken into custody during the operation at 7:46 p.m.
Lt. Richard Legada, CDEU assistant chief, stated in a radio interview that ‘Jameson’ had previously been incarcerated for a similar offense from September 2022 to April 2023 and is currently on probation. The minor involved will be handed over to the Women and Children Protection Desk of Police Station 8. Additionally, a caliber .357 revolver with two live rounds of ammunition was found in ‘Jameson’s’ possession.
In a separate operation conducted around the same time on Sunday night, the CDEU arrested two more suspects. Known as ‘Niel’ from Barangay 2 and ‘Charlie’ from Barangay Taloc, Bago City, the pair were apprehended at Purok Kagaykay, Barangay 2. The suspects were found with approximately 50 grams of shabu valued at PHP340,000.
Police records revealed that ‘Niel,’ who was listed by the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council, had a history of drug-related offenses. He was first arrested in 2019 for visiting a drug den and released in 2020. He was rearrested two weeks later and was released only in 2024.
