Over 300 Schools to Benefit from Aboitiz Group’s Connectivity Project

Iligan city: Public schools in Northern Mindanao will be among the recipients of interconnectivity projects by the multinational firm Aboitiz Group of Companies in 2026. In an interview on Tuesday, focal person Czarina May Geronimo stated that 300 more schools nationwide will benefit from the solar power system and Starlink internet connectivity through Aboitiz Foundation and Aboitiz Foods.

According to Philippines News Agency, there will be annual check-ins to monitor the system, and the company will provide technical maintenance and warranty to keep the systems operating. On December 12, five schools in Barangay Rogongon of Iligan City received solar-powered internet and learning tools donated by Pilmico Foods Corporation in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation. These schools include Libandayan Elementary School, Salingsing Elementary School, Binasan Elementary School, Katipunan Elementary School, and Kianibong Elementary School, all located in the hinterland barangay.

Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar, president of Aboitiz Foundation, said the donation of solar-powered internet is part of Project Aurora, a corporate social responsibility initiative that supports the Philippines’ last-mile school program through sustainable energy solutions, connectivity, and learning platforms. “It represents the collaboration of light-minded organizations, united by a single goal-to uplift and empower the most remote schools in our country through sustainable energy and digital connectivity,” she said.
