Over 2.3 Million Registered Voters Set to Participate in Inaugural Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections

Manila: Over 2.3 million individuals are set to participate in the first Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE) in September, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Tuesday. The voters hail from 2,185 barangays across 108 cities and municipalities within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

According to Philippines News Agency, there will be 5,212 clustered precincts located within 1,186 voting centers to accommodate the registered voters. Comelec Chairperson George Garcia stated that voters in the region will cast their votes for one Regional Parliamentary Political Party and one candidate for Parliamentary District Representative in their respective areas.

Additionally, voters will select six nominees from Parliamentary Sectoral Organizations. These include two representatives for settler communities, and one each for women, youth, traditional leaders, and Ulama, the body of religious scholars. The BPE is scheduled to take place on September 14, 2026.
