Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has announced a significant milestone in the preparation for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) scheduled for November 2, 2026. As of February 15, the total number of voter registration applications processed nationwide has surpassed two million, reaching 2,135,181.
According to Philippines News Agency, the data provided by Comelec reveals that the majority of these applications come from female applicants, totaling 1,121,112, while male applicants account for 1,014,069. The collected applications include 1,554,253 submissions, with new registrants aged 18 and above numbering 556,283.
In addition, the applications for new registrants in the youth category, ages 15 to 17, have reached 580,928. The voter registration period, which resumed on October 20, 2025, is set to continue until May 18, 2026, allowing ample time for eligible voters to register.
The upcoming village and youth elections represent a critical event, and Comelec is actively working to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process. These efforts aim to encourage widespread participation in the democratic process and ensure that eligible voters have the opportunity to cast their votes.
